When I turned 13, I decided I wanted a puppy. My family gave me a job of researching which breed of dog would work best for our lifestyle. So I went to the library and gathered books studying up. Reading, breed after breed, and still have not found the perfect dog, for I fell in love with all of them. My first puppy didn't come until I was well into my 20's. Instead I took in strays or dogs rescued from the pound. I worked hard to rehabilitate them and find them forever homes. After high school and a break from college I enrolled into the Dog Grooming Academy, completing my certification in the fall of 1999. Again I kept on falling in love with my job and all things dog. At the beginning of my fifth year of grooming, I was hired in a salon where the shop owner was a retired dog show handler. For five years I worked at this shop, learning how to convert a show quality haircut into a pet style groom. A year later I started international grooming competitions. In 2004 I won a difficult award for a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. I was now a recognized award winning groomer. I managed to pick up another award in 2006 grooming a Giant Schnauzer winning another difficult award. The joy I get from my job is contagious, with every day I remain ever passionate with grooming.
